Dr Andrew Ssemwanga is Global Adviser at Initiative For Africa.
He has been the Vice Chancellor for St. Lawrence University until the end of April 2020. He cumulates more than three decades of high-level experience in leading academic institutions in Africa, America, Oceania and Europe.
He is currently trainer, consultant and researcher in various aspects of Higher Education, such as, Business Ethics, Academic External Examining, Teaching and Learning Strategies for Sustainable Development, Assessment, Institutional Evaluation, etc. He is also an expert in Corporate Governance ; Finance, Insurance and Accounting.
He is a recognised scholar of the Centre for International Governance Innovation based in Canada. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of the Education Assessors based in the UK and a Corporate Governance expert with the Africa Governance Institute based in Senegal. He is a Financial Accountant and a Fellow of both the Institute of Financial Accountants based in the UK and of the Institute of Public Accountants in Australia; a Certified Financial Consultant and a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Consultants based in the USA; he is an Associate Research Fellow with the African Research and Resource Forum based in Kenya. He is a research mentor at the Human Development Research Initiative at the Sciences Po, a University based in France. He is a member of the Oceania Comparative and International Education Society based in Australia. He is a member of the British Institute in East Africa based in Kenya.
He has served as a consultant for funded projects by the World Bank, USAID, UNDP, European Commission and GTZ. He has also served as consultant for individuals, private and public sectors both in Uganda and outside the country. His areas of consultancy are in Higher Education, Corporate Governance, Financial Management, Investment, Business Ethics, Accounting and General Management.
